Taste of Luxury

Exquisitely Selected Saffron

Rumi saffron is tested in accordance with ISO Standard 3632 at an outstanding rating of 236. The International Taste & Quality Institute has rated Afghan saffron #1 three years running.

The Taste of Luxury

Saffron is known as the Queen of all spices. The raw and vibrant flavors create a dispersion of intensity throughout any dish: both sweet or savory.

Worth Its Weight In Gold

Saffron, also known as "red gold," is the most valuable spice in the world. It is handpicked and requires almost 175,000 flowers to create a single kilogram of saffron.

Chosen By World-Renowned Chefs

Chosen by world-class chefs and Michelin-rated restaurants above all other regions. Rumi saffron unlocks and embodies the Afghan terroir in each stigma’s explosion of flavors.

Cultivated from the mountainous and enduring farmlands of Afghanistan, Rumi saffron brings its unique flavor profile to the forefront of elevated cuisine. The vibrant flavors of this superior Afghan spice create a dispersion of intensity throughout any dish, whether savory or sweet. Rumi saffron is prized by world-renowned chefs for its exquisite aroma and essence.

We partner directly with 94 local Afghan farms and employ more than 384 women with direct wages in Herat, Afghanistan to hand-harvest the delicate crimson stigmas of the flowers. Committed to empowering Afghan women and bolstering the country’s economy, Rumi also reinvests profits back into the agricultural and manufacturing infrastructure for farmers.

By connecting these Afghan farmers with the international market, we can supply a premium product to US consumers while also doubling to tripling their income. Saffron is also an economic alternative to growing poppy for opium - one of the primary sources of income for the Taliban.
