In Turkish, the word "shish" means skewer and "tawook" (also spelled taouk), means chicken. Shish Taouk is a popular Middle Eastern skewered chicken dish, known for its brightness and zest.
Cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes and add to a large mixing bowl.
Add in the lemon juice, yogurt, olive oil and Shish Taouk spice mix. Set aside to marinate for at least 15 minutes, or refrigerated up to overnight.
Skewer the marinated chicken onto wooden or metal skewers. If desired, add in any vegetables of your choice such as onion, peppers, zucchini or cherry tomatoes.
Grill or broil your skewers over high heat for about 5-6 minutes per side, until well charred and cooked through.
Serve with french fries, roasted vegetables and your favorite dipping sauces.
