5 Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day - Rumi Spice

May means spring sunshine, warmer weather, and Mother’s Day! If you are looking for fun and creative ways to celebrate Mother’s Day, check out five activities perfect for your Mother’s Day celebration.

#1 Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed

One of the most popular ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is by making mom some breakfast in bed. Brew a batch of her favorite coffee or tea then whip up a batch of homemade Saffron and Rosewater Pancakes. Don’t forget a drizzle (or two) of saffron honey for an added touch of subtle sweetness. If mom prefers something other than pancakes, try some Saffron and Cinnamon Overnight Oats with Coconut Milk. Add a spoonful of mom’s favorite nuts or nut butter and top with a piece or two of her favorite berries. Complete mom’s breakfast tray with a handwritten card and a bouquet of flowers from the local community farmer’s market.

#2 Mother’s Day Brunch

If you plan on hosting a Mother’s Day celebration with family and friends, celebrate with a brunch or lunch. Ask everyone to bring a dish to compliment the theme such as “Mom’s Favorites.” However, if you prefer to do all of the cooking yourself, then be sure to include a variety of food and beverage options including: coffee, tea, an array of fruit juices, toast with jam, fresh fruit, muffins, salad, soup, wraps and sandwiches. Don’t forget something sweet like these Saffron Orange Cupcakes, Eggless Saffron Cookies, or these Saffron Cream Cheese Brownies.

#3 Mother’s Day Outdoors

If Mom enjoys spending time in Mother Nature, take Mother’s Day outside and into the great outdoors. Go for a morning walk around the neighborhood and stop at mom’s favorite cafe. Go for a family hike or bike ride or set up a picnic at a local park or lake. If you plan on picnicking, pack some delicious dishes like grilled chicken wings or slow cooker pulled pork sandwiches. Just be sure to use proper food safety tips. If your picnic spot is close to home, simply bring your dish to a simmer right before leaving the house and serve it within one hour. If your picnic spot is farther way, transport it in an insulated cooler. Take extra precautions and line the top and bottom of the cooler with kitchen cloths or towels as any open-air space will quickly dissipate heat.

#4 Mother’s Day at the Spa

Give Mom the day off this Mother’s Day and give her a spa day. Send her to her favorite spa or salon for her favorite treatments like a manicure, pedicure, or massage. You can even go big with all three! Make sure mom arrives home with dinner on the table so she can end her day of self-care with a delicious meal. Some of our favorite go-to dishes include Chicken Scallopine with Saffron Cream Sauce, Gochujang Shrimp Bouillabaisse or Saffron Risotto with Butternut Squash. Don’t forget desserts like Orange OIive Oil Cake with Saffron Whipped Cream, flanor Saffron Buttermilk Lemon Pie.

#5 Mother’s Day Day Trip

Surprise Mom with a Mother’s Day day trip to her favorite city or town. Whether it’s spending the day downtown in the city or out in the country at her favorite roadside winery, plan a day trip for Mother’s Day. If schedules allow, make it an entire weekend away. Remember to take lots of pictures so you can create priceless memories that you can later frame and give as gifts for future birthdays, holidays and even next Mother’s Day.

No matter how you celebrate Mother’s Day this year, remember to take a moment to tell all of the mothers in your life how much you love and appreciate them. Afterall, that is the best Mother’s Day gift of all! Need some more Mother’s Day gift ideas? Check out our Mother’s Day gift guide perfect for all of the moms in your life.
