Garam Masala Apple Cobbler

Ingredients

    • 2 ½ lb. apples (apple 4-5 medium), peeled and cut into ½-inch cubes

    • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
    • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
    • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
    • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
    • 2 tsp Rumi Spice Garam Masala spice blend
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp kosher salt

    blank

    • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
    • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
    • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
    • 2 tsp Rumi Spice Garam Masala spice blend

    • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp kosher salt
    • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, cold and cubed

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

    2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the apples with all remaining filling ingredients until well coated. Set aside.
    3. In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, Garam Masala, cinnamon, and salt.
    4. Using your hands or a pastry cutter, cut in the cold butter, until the butter is well incorporated and the mixture resembles the texture of wet sand.
    5. Add the apple filling to a greased baking dish (or individual ramekins). Spread in a single layer.

    6. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apple layer.
    7. Transfer the oven and bake for about 40-45, until the topping is golden brown and fruit juices begging seeping through the crust. Let cool slightly before serving.

    8. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or saffron whipped cream, if desired
