An essential spice in cuisines around the world, cumin’s nutty flavor brings richness and earthiness to dishes. Indigenous to the Old Persian Empire, black cumin is virtually unknown outside of the Middle East. Our Black Cumin is grown wild along the foothills of the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan giving it it's signature sharp earthy and piney flavors.
You can purchase this spice whole and toast it, furhter drawing out its sharp piney aroma, or purchase our pre-ground black cumin as a simple seasoning for all your favorite foods. Our intoxicating and aromatic Wild Black Cumin makes the perfect addition to everything from simple tacos or grilled steak, to show-stopping dishes like cumin & blood orange roasted chicken thighs.

The cumin was great. Flavorful, yet small, so I didn’t need to grind it.
This cumin is a little different from “regular” cumin seed I can purchase at the grocery. It’s a little darker in color and the seeds seem a little smaller. Is it better? I don’t know, but it is very good and fun to have a little splurge with something new.
The flavor of the Rumi Spice Wild Black Cumin is amazing, and there are so many ways to use it. For example, we use it to make a lovely spice blend with Herati Whole Seed Coriander and black peppercorn. Another blend we make is Wild Black Cumin and cardamom seeds. We also sprinkle the whole seeds over basmati rice when cooking. The aroma! It is a versatile and full-flavor spice. I used this in a vegetable soup, and it added an extra complex flavor that made excellent.
Made a batch of chili powder using Rumi’s Wild Black Cumin- Whole Seed. Grinding it, along with whole corriander seed, whole dried chiles and other assorted ingredients... made a dynamite mix of pure chili freshness.
