Apple and pumpkin pies are fall staples for any dinner party, but why not try something new this year with this recipe for Saffron Buttermilk Lemon Pie. The fresh lemon gives this pie a refreshing, bright flavor, while the creamy buttermilk provides a creamy, tangy contrast. Saffron Butter

If you want to find an easy way to incorporate saffron into your favorite fall recipes, simply make a batch of homemade saffron butter. It’s easier than you think! In a small to medium saucepan, melt six tablespoons of butter and a pinch of golden saffron threads. Let sit for one hour before using. Incorporate this rich saffron butter into your favorite fall baking recipes just like you would traditional butter.

Or, for a decadent spread, whip up a batch of saffron salted compound butter. Simply fold 1 teaspoon of our Saffron Seasoned Salt into a stick (1/2 cup) of unsalted butter until well combined and creamy. Use as a spread on crusty bread or muffins, or top off your pasta, steak, or grilled veggies with a dollop for an indulgent holiday treat.

Saffron Whipped Cream

Just like with saffron infused butter, you can easily create a bowl of saffron infused whipped cream to elevate any simple dessert. The blend of rich floral saffron, dairy and sugar is a match made in heaven. Here’s how to make it:

  • Add 1/4 cup of heavy cream to a small saucepan and add in a pinch of saffron threads.
  • Heat the mixture to a simmer and remove from heat. Let steep for about 20 minutes.
  • Combine cooled saffron infused cream with 3/4 cup chilled heavy cream in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add in a Tablespoon of sugar and pinch of salt. Beat to stiff peaks using an electric mixer, and serve
